How important is sleep?

Regular sleep or regeneration is essential for our body. Physical activity is only possible because we regularly give our body time to recover. Recovery is therefore the basis for activity. For most people, sleep is the type of recovery they know best and is therefore very important. It is also the case, however, that sleep normally determines a large part of our lives. On average, most people sleep for around 8 hours a day. This means that a third of the day passes without us noticing. If we assume that a person lives to be around 84 years old and sleeps for 8 hours a day, this means that this person sleeps full 28 years of their life. Contrary to general recommendations, it is not necessary to spend a third of your life sleeping, provided you live the right way. If you treat your body the right way and live a healthy life, you will naturally need less sleep. However, it is important to pay close attention to the signals your body is sending you and not to take violent action. Our need for rest depends on the activities we do and how we live in general. Adequate rest is essential for our body and it can cause great damage if the body does not get the amount of rest it needs. Our brain in particular goes through important regeneration and cleansing processes during sleep. If these processes cannot be carried out sufficiently, this can encourage the development of certain neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's or dementia. The fact that regular rest is important for our body and our health does not mean that we need to spend a third of our lives sleeping. If you invest in yourself, treat your body properly, eat food that nourishes the body with as little resistance as possible, keep your metabolism in a balanced state, learn to absorb energy not only through food, keep your body and mind relaxed outside of sleep and pay attention to certain other aspects, then it is quite possible and even quite normal that you need relatively little sleep without losing energy and vitality. If your life is valuable to you, you should be interested in being able to use as much of it as possible and not miss out on a third of it.
